My Music Magazine - Photos
These are my original and edited images that I have used on my magazine. I edited the first two images on Photoshop and edited out the backgrounds. I edited the final image using the online editor, PicMonkey to make it into an album cover.

My Music Magazine - Media Institution
I would want a media institution like Development Hell Ltd to be the type of institution to represent and distribute my magazine
because they represent magazines that are about music and entertainment and
this is the genre of my magazine. The owners of Development Hell Ltd used to be
the executives of the institution Emap which means they have a lot of precious
experience with distributing magazines. My research found out that they have
recently released an app for the club magazine MixMag which would be good for
my magazine as the target audience is aged 14-18 so an app that would be
available for their phones would be a positive and useful addition to my
magazine as it would mean more magazines were sold, electronically or
physically which means more profit.

My Music Magazine - Stereotypes Research
From researching different types of music genres and looking at the stereotypical groups of people who listen to that type of music, along with the results from my questionnaire, I made the decision of making the genre of my magazine POP and my target audience teenagers as this is the stereotypical audience that listens to the POP genre. I will then make the colours of the magazine to appeal to teenage girls, for example pink and purples as these are the stereotypical favourite colours of teenage girls.
My Music Magazine: My double page spread will be...
My double page spread will be an interview with the new band
of 2014, Wild Attack. It will ask the lead singer questions about how the band
mates met and how they formed. It will ask what they’re looking forward to in
the celebrity world and what they’re dreading.
It will be laid out in question answer form on the left page of
the double spread and a main image of the band on the right page. There will
also be an inset of the band when they were young, as this will relate to one of
the answers the band gave.

My Music Magazine - Cover Lines
I will have around 4 cover lines on my magazine and they will focus around pop acts that appeal to my target audience. For example, I will make one cover line be on the topic of Ed Sheeran as he is very popular at the moment, with the majority of his fans being teenage girls, so this would make them attracted to my magazine.
The main cover line will be about my double page spread, for which I will create a fake girl band which is stereotypically liked by teenage girls, my target audience, to make it appeal to them.
My other cover lines will be about other things in the magazine, like the months charts and a review of a popular artists album and anothers tour, which would also appeal to the target audience of teenage girls.

My Music Magazine - Name tally
I did created a tally chart of possible names of my music magazine. I then asked people of the age of the target audience which name they liked best; the name with the most tallies is HPC. This will be the name of my music magazine.
My Music Magazine - Genre
I have decided to have the genre of my music magazine as
POP. I have decided this because it is
such a big genre that there are so many aspects of it to explore. The results
from my questionnaire show that for the demographic I am aiming my magazine at,
pop is the most popular genre. This will be made clear in my magazine as the
main articles and the reviews in the magazine will be about pop artists, pop albums
and pop concerts. The house style will be bright with bold colours and bold
writing which will make the magazine be eye-catching and attract people to the
magazine; mostly teenager girls as they would be most likely to read a pop
magazine.

College Magazine Contents Page (final draft)
This is my final draft for my contents page. It looks more professional than my first draft.
I changed the font to be the same as the sell lines on the cover.
The images are about the main stories in the issue that are sell lines on the front cover. They have the page number on the image for easy navigation around the magazine.
College Magazine Contents Page (first draft)
This is my first draft for my college magazine contents page. The house style has been continued through with the colours and the masthead at the top.
The font is the same for the list of articles as it is for the masthead, I will change this because I think it looks to boring and needs to be varied.
The image is related to one of the stories inside the article, I will add more images that relate to other articles, and order them chronologically.

College Magazine Front Cover Final Draft
This is my final draft for my College Magazine Front Page.
I changed the size of the masthead and added a strapline and logo of the college.
I made the sell lines different colours and different sizes which give the cover more dynamics and the barcode being in the corner with the price smaller make the cover look neater.
I added a new sell line and a little teaser about the stories included in the sell lines.
The cover now looks more professional and complete.
Magazine Cover First Draft
This is my first draft of my College Magazine front cover. I don't like the dullness of the sell lines as they are just black. I will change them to different, bright colours to make them stand out and I will also make them a different font. This will give the cover more variation. In addition to this I will make the sell lines different sizes.
The Masthead is too small so I will make this bigger to be more eye-catching.
I will also make the price and barcode smaller and move them so they aren't one of the main focus' of the cover.

College Magazine Cover Research
Every magazine has a masthead and sell lines. This is a main convention of magazines, along with bright colours and bold writing.
The examples below use most of the conventions of a magazine. They all have mastheads and bright colours that stand out. Most college magazines have a student on the front, using a mid-shot who usually wearing an item of clothing that represents the college they go to, whether it’s a sports uniform or just a college t-shirt.
This magazine
cover has many conventions of the typical magazine. It uses very bright colours
to get people’s attention and to draw them in and it will also appeal to the
target audience as dull colours wouldn’t attract the teenage audience because
the audience would think the articles in the magazine would be boring to them.
The white text and yellow bubbles also helps with this as the stark contrast
between the three colours is very noticeable.
The masthead
is big and bold and the main sell line also stands out. The colour scheme is
the same on the cover as the purple uniform is mirrored in the purple banner of
the main sell line and the banner above the title and the pink background is
mirrored in the text of the main sell line. The banner also links to the model
as it tells you who she is and what link she has to the magazine.
The picture
is of a teenage college cheerleader in her cheer outfit. This would help to
sell magazines as she is of the same age as the target audience and in America
young girls aspire to be cheerleaders. One of the sell lines is about how to
become a cheerleader, this would also help to sell the magazine because again, it’s
what young girls aspire to be.
The colour
scheme of the magazine is shown to be the college colours as it matches the
football player’s uniform. Many colleges do this as it shows that it is their
magazine. It has the masthead in white with yellow outline to stand out from
the darker background, this and the player’s jersey stand out.
The main
sell line is more apparent than the others because its text is bolder and
bigger than the rest. The image is of one of the college’s football players and
the shot used is a mid-shot. The type of image is an action shot, which isn’t
usually used for magazine front covers as they are usually set up studio shots.
This would help to sell the magazine as
it would appeal to the target audience, college football players or supporters who
are interested in the star players of the season and the league tables.
The font
styles used are similar to those used on sports channels and at football games.
The banner across the top of the magazine showing what is in this issue is in
the style of a headline banner on a sports program. All the aspects of the
magazine highlight that it is a football mmagazine and fit to the connotations
of a football related program.
This magazine sticks to the usual conventions too. It has a masthead that
stands out from the rest of the magazine the colour is bright and contrasts
with the other colours on the cover. The white background makes the rest of the
writing easy to read as there is no merging of colours. Its main image is a
portrait of the person the main story is about and the person is wearing
colours that stand out from the rest of the colours on the cover. This would’ve
been pre planned. There are sell lines that give the overview of the top stories
in the magazine. The other little things that all magazines have like the issue
date and issue number, as well as the barcode are also on this magazine. The
exclamation mark on the sell line makes it seem like this is an extra bonus in
the magazine and that the magazine editors want the reader to be excited about
this feature in the magazine.
The man on the front cover links to the main
headline. His pose is seductive to draw you in towards him. His eyes looking
straight into the camera also have the same effect as it seems to be that he is
looking straight at you and wanting you to come and buy the magazine. With this
in mind, the target audience of this particular magazine would most probably be
women who are interested in Zachary Quinto.
Magazine Contents Page Analysis
This is my contents page analysis. It highlights the main conventions of contents pages and shows how this one breaks the usual conventions.

I feel that it shows the main places where the students are when they're not in lessons.
